Strategic lifetime management for civil infrastructures is becoming one
the most important issues in the sustainable development of societies not
only in both of Japan & Korea but also in all over the world. Therefore,
advanced research works and international collaboration are needed to establish
the practical lifetime management system.
The School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Yonsei University
and the Graduate School of Science & Engineering (Dept. of Computer
& Systems Engineering), Yamaguchi University has agreed each other
to organize the Student Education Exchange Program and Joint Seminar between
both universities. The Student Education Exchange Program will focus on
the sharing research ideas, practical discussions and research collaboration
to the recent hot topics in IT-based infrastructure management and maintenance.
And the Joint Seminar (Y-Y Joint Seminar) will be discussing the latest topics related to maintenance strategies
for civil infrastructures.
The first Y-Y Joint Seminar was held in Ube, Yamaguchi, from 27th February to 2nd March 2007. The major concern in the second Seminar which will be held
at Yamaguchi University,15-16 January, 2008, will focus in almost the same
topics of previous one. We believe that the Seminar might make a good collaboration of both universities
in the future as a valuable reference for recent developments in strategic
lifetime management of civil infrastructures.
